WWE's Sonya Deville Was The Target Of An Attempted Kidnapping; Suspect Arrested & Held Without Bail

Sonya Deville was the target of an attempted kidnapping, according to ESPN.
A man named Phillip Thomas was arrested for attempting to abduct the 26-year-old WWE Superstar, whose real name is Daria Berenato, on Sunday (August 15) from her home in Florida.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department, it appears that the man had been planning to kidnap Sonya for roughly eight months and had been stalking her on social media.
He apparently was waiting on her property for about four hours and cut a hole in her patio screen to wait for her to go to sleep just before 3 a.m. local time. He then activated the security alarm when he attempted to enter the house.
Sonya spotted him and he then bolted for his car to get away.
He was charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary, attempted armed kidnapping and criminal mischief. Phillip was also in possession of “a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace and other items” on his person.
Phillip is currently being held without bail.
“Our deputies are unveiling the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in the news release. “It’s frightening to think of all the ways this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder.”
