Jim Carrey to Play Joe Biden on 'Saturday Night Live'

Jim Carrey will be portraying Joe Biden on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live next month.

In an interview with SNL‘s head Lorne Michaels, he revealed the following to Vulture: “Maya Rudolph is coming back, and Alec [Baldwin] will be back. And I think Jim Carrey is going to do Biden.” Maya will presumably returning as Kamala Harris. Alec will be portraying Trump.

When asked how he landed Jim for the role, Lorne responded, “There was some interest on his part. And then we responded, obviously, positively. But it came down to discussions about what the take was. He and Colin Jost had a bunch of talks. He and I as well. He will give the part energy and strength, and … [Laughs.] Hopefully it’s funny.”

Election years are usually really big for SNL with lots of political parodies. Stay tuned for the debut episode on October 3! Find out which SNL cast members will be returning this season.
