Gerard Butler's 'Greenland' Movie Will Not Be Released in Theaters At All

Gerard Butler‘s latest movie, Greenland, is skipping theaters entirely.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that due to the theater shutdowns in the United States and that a previous pushed back release date have affected the decision.

Now, the movie that also stars Morena Baccarin and Scott Glenn, will now head straight to Video On Demand.

It will be available for $19.99 on December 18.

Greenland centers on John Garrity, whose family must fight for survival as a planet-killing comet races to earth. He and his estranged wife, along with their young son, embark on a monumental trek that culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.

The flick has already been released in theaters in Italy and New Zealand, as their theaters have reopened.

Greenland has been a hit everywhere in the world, so it’s exciting to bring it to American audiences on PVOD,” Adam Fogelson, chairman of the STXfilms Motion Picture Group, said in a statement.

Greenland will be available on HBO and HBO Max in 2021.
