Debra Messing Narrates Voting Purging Documentary 'The Purged' - Watch In Full Here

Debra Messing is the voice you hear over the new short film, The Purged.

The 52-year-old actor teamed up with producers George and Peggy DiCaprio, Yvette Nicole Brown, and the founders of Black Voters Matter to shine a spotlight on the vanishing voters registration that was made apparent in the 2016 Presidential Election.

“I remember being just stunned and feeling like, ‘How is that possible? How are there no consequences for that?’ And, more importantly, ‘How in 2020 can it be in America, that there’s not a presumption and a celebration that every citizen has the right to vote?’” Debra shared with Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. “Seeing this movie just showed me that we have a long way to go to the ideals of our Constitution, which is that everybody is treated equally and has equal opportunity.”

In the short investigative journalist Greg Palast leads the charge to uncover over 2 million voters who were surprised to discover that their registration to vote was cancelled when they tried to vote.

He confronts official vote scammers in swing states including Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan and exposes the impact this has had on mostly young Black voters.

The film is a must-watch short film leading into the 2020 Presidential Election and shines a light on the duty that every voter has to ensure their votes are counted.
