Alex Trebek Talked About His 'Jeopardy!' Replacement in One of His Final Interviews

The world is a little sadder today.

Fans are mourning the death of beloved Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek after it was announced that he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday (November 8).

Alex had been battling the disease for years, and told fans that he would continue to host Jeopardy! as long as “my skills have not diminished.”

During one of his final interviews with ABC News back in January, Alex shared a message with fans in regards to whoever would be replacing him.

“I will say my goodbyes and I will tell people, ‘Don’t ask me who’s going to replace me because I have no say whatsoever,’” Alex shared, reciting his planned exit speech. “‘But I’m sure that if you give them the same love and attention and respect that you have shown me … then they will be a success and the show will continue being a success. And until we meet again, God bless you and goodbye.’”

Alex served as host of Jeopardy! for 36 years, since 1984. It was recently announced that Alex filmed his final episode just 10 days ago. You can find out when it will be airing here.
