President-Elect Joe Biden Announces COVID-19 Advisory Board & Urges Americans To Wear Masks In Fight Against Coronavirus

Joe Biden addresses the nation with a briefing about the newly formed COVID-19 Advisory Board on Monday morning (November 9) from Wilmington, Del.

The President-Elect revealed the board, which consists of 13 doctors and scientists and will be led by Dr. David Kessler, former Food and Drug Administration commissioner, Dr. Vivek Murthy, former U.S. Surgeon General, and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, a professor at Yale University.

During his speech, President-Elect Biden urged Americans to wear masks to aid in the fight against coronavirus as we wait for a vaccine.

“So please, I implore you, wear a mask, do it for yourself, do it for your neighbor. A mask is not a political statement, but it is a good way to start pulling the country together,” he shared.

He also spoke about the promising vaccine news, but reminded Americans that “we’re still facing a very dark winter” and that “there’s a need for bold action to fight this pandemic.”

“The bottom line, I will spare no effort to turn this pandemic around once we’re sworn in on January 20th to get our kids back to school safely, our businesses growing and our economy running at full speed again,” Biden added.

“This election is over,” Biden said. “It’s time to put aside the partisanship and the rhetoric that designed to demonize one another. It’s time to end the politicization of basic responsible public health steps like mask wearing and social distancing.”
