Broadway Legend Ann Reinking Has Passed Away at 71

Legendary Broadway star Ann Reinking has died.

The Tony Award-winning actress and dancer passed away in Washington on Saturday night (December 12) at the age of 71, her sister-in-law Dahrla Reinking told Variety. A cause of death hasn’t been confirmed as of this time.

Ann was best known for playing the role of Roxie Hart on Broadway in the original run of Chicago. She reprised the role in the 1996 revival of the musical, which is the longest-running American musical of all time.

Other Broadway shows that Ann appeared in included Cabaret, Pippin, A Chorus Line, Sweet Charity, and Fosse, which she conceived, co-directed, and co-choreographed. That show marked her final appearance on the Great White Way, back in 2001.

Ann is survived by her husband, Peter Talbert, and her son Chris. We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to her loved ones during this difficult time.
