'The Office' Will Be Added to Peacock in January, But There's a Catch

The Office is leaving Netflix at the end of 2020 and it will have a new streaming home in 2021, but there will be a catch.

The beloved NBC comedy series is going back home to the NBCUniversal family starting on January 1 and it will be available to stream on the new streaming service Peacock.

While every single episode of the series will be on Peacock, only certain subscribers will get to view the full series.

Peacock has several membership levels, including a free, ad-supported version. People who access the streaming service with the free membership will only have access to the first two seasons of the show.

To view seasons 3 through 9, you will need a membership to Peacock Premium, which costs $4.99 a month for the ad-supported version or $9.99 a month for the ad-free version. All Comcast subscribers get Peacock Premium with their cable subscriptions, so make sure to look into that if you’re cable provider is Comcast.

Fans who get Peacock Premium will also get access to the special The Office: Superfan Episodes, which will include never-before-seen content.

Series creator Greg Daniels said, “Having The Office back in the NBC family opens up access to a lot of extra content that we originally shot. The team at Peacock wanted to create the ultimate destination for fans, so I went back into the dailies with the original editors of the show and found some never-before-seen footage that was cut for time but is still fun to see. You can choose to watch the classic version of the show, or the superfan extended cuts with this new footage and other deleted scenes that we are gradually rolling out, starting with season 3. The experience on Peacock should feel like a celebration of The Office for fans.”
