Hilary Duff Announces 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Is Officially Done - Here's Why

The Lizzie McGuire reboot is officially done, Hilary Duff just revealed.

If you don’t know, Disney+ announced last August that they were reviving the hit Disney Channel series, but things have been rocky since.

Hilary reprised her titular role as Lizzie and actually filmed two episodes before production was halted after original creator Terri Minsky left over creative differences.

Hilary then spoke out on social media to address the situation, saying that she hoped that Disney+ would let the Lizzie McGuire reboot be moved to Hulu so that they could explore more mature storylines on the show.

On Wednesday (December 16), Hilary posted, “I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie in my life. She has made such a lasting impact on many, including myself. To see the fans’ loyalty and love for her, to this day, means so much to me.”

“I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work but, sadly and despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen,” she continued.

“I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves,” she added.
