Netflix Orders Sequel To Breakout Holiday Hit 'A California Christmas'

Netflix has ordered a sequel to this season’s breakout holiday hit, A California Christmas!

Variety reports that the sequel, titled California Christmas: City Lights, will be fast tracked by Ali Afshar’s ESX Entertainment, the production company behind the original film.

Filming is planned for the beginning of 2021 in various parts of northern California.

A California Christmas, which stars married couple Lauren and Josh Swickard, actually beat out The Prom and seasonal fave How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the number one spot on the streamer’s Top 10 lists, since its debut on December 14.

The film centered on a charming and wealthy real estate heir Joseph (Josh) who poses as a ranch hand to get a hardworking farmer Cassie (Lauren) to sell her family’s land before Yuletide Eve.

Variety adds that the sequel would follow Cassie as she gets used to Joseph’s socialite high life.
