Donald Trump is putting Mike Pence on blast following his comments regarding the coup that happened at the capital today (January 6) in Washington, D.C.

If you haven’t heard, many supporters of the Trump administration broke into the U.S. Capitol Building today, halting election proceedings.

Protestors were overheard shouting “stop the steal”, referring to the false claims that the election was stolen from Trump which he has perpetuated since the election was called in Joe Biden‘s favor.

Now, Trump is calling out his own vice president, as Pence has stated that he will not use his own executive powers to overturn the election.

“It is my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not,” Pence wrote in a letter.

He added that “the concerns of millions of Americans about the integrity of this election” and says that he believes, “vesting the Vice President with unilateral authority to decide presidential contests would be entirely antithetical to” American government at its core.

Following his letter, Trump wrote a scathing tweet about Pence and his decision.

The Capitol has been on lockdown since the coup’s break in past police lines, which happened as Congress was tallying the votes.
