Cloris Leachman Passes Away at 94
Cloris Leachman has sadly died.
The beloved actress and comedian passed away at the age of 94, TMZ reported Wednesday (January 27).
She passed away of natural causes Tuesday night (January 26) at her home in Encinitas, Calif. with her daughter Dinah by her side according to her son, via the outlet.
She made her debut on the Actors Studio series, landing her breakthrough role playing Phyllis on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s, leading to her own spin-off show. She also won two Emmys for the role, plus a Golden Globe for Best TV Actress.
Cloris is also known for her roles in History of the World, Part 1, The Last Picture Show and Young Frankenstein, among others.
More recently, she starred in Malcolm in the Middle and voiced characters on The Croods and Bob’s Burgers. With 22 Emmy nominations, she is also the most nominated actress in history, and her 8 wins is the most of all time, tying with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
