Jon Stewart Joins Twitter to Praise Redditors Amid the GameStop Stock Controversy

Jon Stewart has joined Twitter!

The former Daily Show host is now a verified Twitter user under the name @Jon_Actual and his first tweet was a comment about the GameStop stock controversy.

For those that don’t know, a group of people on Reddit were able to get the stock price for GameStop to rise significantly and cause a hedge fund worth billions of dollars to go bankrupt in the process. After this happened, the stock trading app Robinhood barred its users from trading the stock.

There has also been talk about regulating the stock market system to prevent this from ever happening again, though this would just protect the wealthy hedge funds from losing money instead of rewarding smart investors like the people from Reddit.

Jon tweeted, “This is bullsh-t. The Redditors aren’t cheating, they’re joining a party Wall Street insiders have been enjoying for years. Don’t shut them down…maybe sue them for copyright infringement instead!! We’ve learned nothing from 2008. Love, StewBeef.”

A few hours later he added, “Thanks for the warm welcome! I promise to only use this app in a sporadic and ineffective manner.”
