Trailblazing Queer Dance Star Ari Gold Passes Away at 47

Ari Gold has sadly died.

The dance artist, who had just celebrated his birthday earlier in the month, passed away at the age of 47 after a battle with cancer, Out reported Sunday (February 14).

Ari released seven albums in his career, which kicked off in the early 2000s, including songs like “Where the Music takes You” and “Wave of You.” The music video for that song was reportedly the first from an out LGBTQ-artist to premiere on Logo.

He also notched Billboard dance hits with songs like “Love Will Take Over” and “Human.” His music was featured on shows like Queer as Folk, and he had just recently done an interview with longtime friend RuPaul for his podcast, and also appeared in RuPaul‘s Starrbooty.

“Until we meet again, dear friend. Love always, Ru,” RuPaul wrote on Twitter.

Our thoughts are with Ari Gold‘s loved ones at this difficult time.

We have sadly lost all of these stars in 2021.
