Oscars 2021: Academy President Reveals Who Is Allowed to Attend the Live Show

The 2021 Academy Awards will take place on April 25 with a live show from multiple locations in Los Angeles, but there will be limited attendees allowed at the show.

Usually, the event is held at the historic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and the Academy usually holds a lottery for members to get tickets to attend the live show.

This year, only the nominees, their guest of choice, and the presenters will be allowed to attend the show due to the ongoing pandemic. Also, Union Station in downtown Los Angeles will be used as an additional venue.

“This year, those attending the awards in person will be nominees, their guest, and presenters — with an audience of millions watching and cheering from all around the world. As a result, we will not be able to conduct our annual member ticket lottery,” Academy president David Rubin said in an email to the nearly 10,000 members (via THR).

It was also announced that there will be no in-person events this year, including the annual nominees luncheon and the Governors Ball.

The list of Oscar nominations was announced this morning. See the full list!
