The 2021 Oscars Are Charging a Ton of Money for a 30 Second Commercial

If you’re a brand that wants to air a 30 second commercial during the 2021 Oscars, you’re going to have to shell out $2 million!

This price tag is raising eyebrows after some poor awards show ratings in the past few weeks. The 2021 Grammys only brought in 8.8 million viewers, the smallest audience ever for the show. The 2021 Golden Globes only received 6.9 million viewers, which was also a record low for the event.

It’s unclear which brands will be paying that price for a spot so far, but we will soon find out. Variety was first to report the news.

The show is set to take place on April 25. Just Jared will be live blogging the entire show.

The list of Oscar nominations was announced earlier this month. See the full list if you missed it.
