Rod Wave Gets His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With 'SoulFly'

Rod Wave is on top for the first time.

The 22-year-old entertainer’s SoulFly debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the company reported Sunday (April 4).

The album moved 130,000 equivalent album units in its first week, marking the biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop album in 2021 in terms of units earned.

SoulFly is his third charting album, following Ghetto Gospel, which peaked at No. 10 in 2019 and Pray 4 Love, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 2020.

SoulFly is just the second R&B/hip-hop album to hit No. 1 the last five months since Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red, which spent a week at No. 1 on the chart in January. Before that was Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, which spent its second of two nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in October of 2020.
