Rosie Perez Opens Up About Not Being Invited To The Oscars Despite Her 1994 Nomination

Rosie Perez is opening up about why fans have never seen her at the Oscars, despite being a past nominee.

The 56-year-old actress opened up to Variety in a new feature about Latinx film representation, and revealed why she has never been invited to attend or present at award ceremony.

Rosie was nominated for her role in Fearless in the Best Supporting Actress category in 1994.

“Not even to sit in the audience, not to present, nothing — and I’m a member. I love the Academy Awards. I cheer on my peers, but it hurts,” Rosie admitted by being left out from the show.

She likens it to “like when your home team doesn’t ask you to come back into the stadium after you got up to bat and hit the home run.”

Rosie was nominated at the 1994 ceremony alongside Anna Paquin, Winona Ryder, Emma Thompson and Holly Hunter.

Anna won the Oscar, becoming the second youngest winner at the show.
