Prince Philip's Funeral Details Revealed, Including How He Helped Plan Certain Things

Details for Prince Philip‘s funeral have been revealed following the royal’s death at the age of 99.

Philip passed away on Friday (April 9) and he will be laid to rest on Saturday (April 17) at Windsor Castle.

The Duke of Edinburgh played a role in the planning of his funeral, a source told the Associated Press. He wanted the funeral to focus on family and he even helped designed a modified Land Rover that will carry his coffin.

A palace spokesman said, “Although the ceremonial arrangements are reduced, the occasion will still celebrate and recognize the duke’s life and his more than 70 years of service to the Queen, the UK and the Commonwealth.”

The palace source has confirmed that only 30 people will be allowed to attend the funeral because of COVID-19 protocols, though it is not known if guests will be required to wear masks.

The public is being asked to stay at home and not show up at Windsor Castle.

“While there is sadness that the public will not be able to physically be part of events to commemorate the life of the duke, the royal family asks that anyone wishing to express their condolences do so in the safest way possible and not by visiting Windsor or any other royal palaces to pay their respects,″ the palace spokesman said. “The family’s wish is very much that people continue to follow the guidelines to keep themselves and others safe.″

The funeral will begin at 3pm in England, which is 10am New York time.

A source has explained why Meghan Markle will not be attending, even though Prince Harry will be traveling to England to attend.
