Bernie Madoff, Known for His Massive Ponzi Scheme, Dies in Prison at 82

Bernie Madoff, the man responsible for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, has passed away in prison on Wednesday (April 14).

The 82-year-old was imprisoned at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina, and the AP was able to confirm his death from natural causes. The person who confirmed his death spoke on the condition of anonymity.

During the pandemic, his lawyers attempted to get him an early release saying he was suffering from end-stage renal disease and other chronic medical conditions. He was denied this request.

Some of the clients he represented over the years included Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, John Malkovich, Steven Spielberg, and more.

No further information was released about his death at this time.
