There's A Good Reason That Dave Bautista Chose 'Army of the Dead' Over 'The Suicide Squad'

Dave Bautista is opening up about the big reason he chose to star in Zack Snyder‘s Army of the Dead instead of following James Gunn to The Suicide Squad.

In Army of the Dead, the 52-year-old stars as Scott Ward, who is a zombie veteran-turned-diner cook until being offered $50 million to head a mission into zombie-infested Las Vegas to retrieve $200 million in cash for Hunter Bly.

The movie will opens in theaters nationwide May 14 before streaming May 21 on Netflix.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Dave revealed it was all about money.

“I get to build a relationship with Netflix, I get a lead role in a great film — and I get paid a lot more money,” he shared. “I had to call James, and I told him, ‘It breaks my heart, because as a friend, I want to be there with you, but professionally, this is the smart decision for me.’”

Dave continued, “[Gunn] said, ‘I completely get it. I’m proud of you that you’re even in this position. I’m proud that I had something to do with you being in this position where you have to make these hard decisions.’”

In the past, Dave has been very loyal to James, and even defended him as he had been fired by Disney over past controversial tweets.
