Dogecoin Price Had a Big Surge Leading Up to Elon Musk's 'SNL' Appearance

Elon Musk‘s highly anticipated appearance as the host of Saturday Night Live is happening tonight and in the hours leading up to the episode, the price of cryptocurrency Dogecoin has surged.

The currency was launched as a joke back in 2013 and the value of Doge has risen significantly after Elon endorsed it back in December 2020.

In his tweet, Elon called Bitcoin “bs” and said, “One word: Doge.” The price of the currency was just $0.004569 on the day that tweet was sent out. In the time since then, it has risen by a LOT.

The price of Dogecoin on April 24, when Elon was announced as the host of SNL, was $0.27. In the early morning hours of May 8, the day of the show, the price surged to a high of $0.73, though it’s back down to $0.65 at the time of this post going live.
