California Is Fully Reopening on June 15 Amid Pandemic

California is making some big decisions.

The state’s officials announced a timeline on Friday (May 21) regarding their reopening plan on June 15 amid the pandemic, following new guidelines from the CDC.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Mark Ghaly said capacity limitations will no longer be part of the guidelines and physical distancing will no longer be recommended, via Variety.

“We will continue to have some guidance on masking,” he added, saying it will align with CDC guidance.

“We are not considering a vaccine passport,” he went on to say.

That said, venues with more than 10,000 attendees are recommended to verify vaccination or negative COVID tests of those at the event, and non-vaccinated attendees will need to wear a mask. For indoor venues with more than 5,000 people, there is also a recommendation to verify vaccination or negative COVID tests.

“We will stay tuned” about guidance for workplaces, he added. More details are still to be announced.
