'General Hospital' Star Kirsten Storms Reveals She Had Brain Surgery This Week

Kirsten Storms revealed some big news to her fans this week and shared that she underwent brain surgery.

The 37-year-old actress is a soap opera staple, and is best known for her role as Maxie on General Hospital, as well as Zenon from the Disney Channel movie, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kirsten shared a video updating her fans on what happened and why she had to have the surgery in the first place.

“I’ve not really spoken about this much, or at all, actually; less than 48 hours ago, I had brain surgery, hence the neck brace,” she told fans. “It was on the lower portion of my brain.”

Kirsten shared that her former co-star, Emme Rylan, is taking care of her for the time being, until “I get to my at-home nurse.”

She went on, opening up more about the surgery, and assured her fans it was not cancer.

“What they had to drain and remove was not cancer; I want to clarify that right now before the Internet, like, goes crazy wild with rumors about this,” Kirsten said. “I had a very large cyst that had split into two and the doctor said it was, like, so full, the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull.”

“I will be on the mend for the next several weeks. I will be back at work when this is over with.”
