CNN Anchor Christiane Amanpour Reveals She's Undergoing Treatment for Ovarian Cancer

Christiane Amanpour is opening up.

The CNN correspondent shared that she had recently had surgery for ovarian cancer and would undergo chemotherapy for a period of weeks on Monday (June 14), per Variety.

Christiane began her segment by thanking her program’s staffers and Bianna Golodryga, CNN’s senior global affairs analyst, for filling for her in recent weeks.

“I’ve had successful major surgery to remove it and I’m now undergoing several months of chemotherapy for the very best possible long-term prognosis, and I’m confident,” she said during the show.

“Always listen to your bodies,” she continued, urging viewers to make sure “that your legitimate medical concerns are not dismissed or diminished.”

Christiane has covered international affairs at CNN for over 20 years, since the network’s launch in the 1980s.
