Jon Bernthal's 'American Gigolo' Series Gets Picked Up by Showtime, 10-Episode Season Ordered!

Showtime has announced that the upcoming American Gigolo series has been picked up and a 10-episode first season has been ordered!

Jon Bernthal is starring in the series, written and directed by Ray Donovan‘s David Hollander. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original film, will return to executive produce the series.

American Gigolo is a present-day reimagining of the iconic 1980 film. Bernthal will play Julian Kaye, who is introduced 15 years after he’s been arrested for murder and struggling to find his footing in the modern-day Los Angeles sex industry, while seeking the truth about the set-up that sent him to prison all those years ago and also hoping to reconnect with Michelle, his one true love, played by Gretchen Mol.

Also starring in the series are Rosie O’Donnell as homicide Detective Sunday, Lizzie Brochere as sex work ring heiress Isabelle, Gabriel LaBelle as a younger version of Julian named Johnny, Leland Orser as Richard Stratton, a self-made tech billionaire, and guest star Wayne Brady as Lorenzo, Julian’s best friend and mentor.
