Shakira almost pulled the plug on her scheduled 'American Idol' performance tonight. Sources connected with the show tell TMZ that the singer had insisted her band accompany her as she opened the show, but FOX said "no." We're told it's because FOX didn't want to ante up money for her band. ¶ Shakira drew a line in the sand and refused to perform. But, we're told, FOX blinked and agreed to fork over what it would take for Shakira's band to perform. So, the show will go on.Grammy winner Shakira, 29, and hip-hop luminary Wyclef Jean, 33, will definitely be performing my absolute favorite song of the moment -- the Latin-inflected, cross-cultural hip shaker "Hips Don't Lie" during tonight's broadcast of American Idol! Tonight's American Idol results show airs tonight, March 29 (9PM ET/PT) on FOX.
RECAP UPDATE :: Ace Young, Lisa Tucker and Katharine McPhee are in the bottom 3. Ace is safe. Katharine is safe. Anaheim's 16-year-old Lisa Tucker sent home. The whole time Ryan Seacrest was hosting, I was like EEEWWWW, you sucked face with Teri Hatcher last weekend!!!!!! Shakira did a whole lot less chest thrusting than she normally does performing.

and phone number displayed during Mandisa's performance. Is FOX
trying to send subliminal messages for America to vote for Taylor?

Damn, you KNOW Shakira's latest English CD was a major flop when she's flogging it on Idol. I dunno how she talked Tommy Mottola into letting her release 2 CDs 6 months apart, but she's eating major crow now. I like her, altho she does sound like a goat sometimes
It was great! Did it seem like Wyclef was singing along to a track of his voice?? Too bad. Shak sounded GREAT! I love it that such a small woman can have such a enormous presence.
Wyclef sucks! Lauren Hill carried the Fugees with her beautiful voice, he was merely a tired wannabe rapper!
I didn't like how Wyclef took the focus from Shakira when a bunch of girls in white came out, it looked like they were all gonna dance bad ass and then wyclef goes over to the judges taking the camera from Shakira. GO CHRIS
Shakira totally killed it...girl is on fire. I liked how the audiance gave her a standing ovation. but yeah wyclef did steal some of her thunder...which i didnt like.
