It looks a little photo-shopped because of the shadow around Brad, it doesn't look natural. If anything, Brad and Maddox were put in the picture after it was taken but the picture of Angelina, Zahara and the woman look real, like it was taken at that time.

I mean, Brad's hair looks like it was a Zen cut and Angelina's is coiffed for a commercial. Maybe they all got to have a makeover for free from the Shiseido people.

Hi Elena, How can you tell it is real? Just before they left Paris, Brad was photographed in the Dominican with a beard and mustache and long hair, while Maddox was photographed leaving a toy store with a more-extreme-than-usual mohawk, super short on the sides. I guess Brad could have had a shave and a haircut, but could Maddox's hair have grown this much this fast? I dig this deeply into this issue even as truly important events in the world are unfolding. Kind of embarrassing...

Brad might have had a haircut before they flew to Namibia. I don't think he looks particularly young, but boy he is much more masculine than before. Nothing like having kids make you grow up :)

Other than that anything is possible with photoshop. Still cute, and interesting that staff used the word, "his wife".

these are fake. if you look at them, they look EXACTLY the same in the first and second picture... just minus the asian woman. same expressions on their faces, same direction to their bodies... same everything. if anything these are pictures on wax figures or something.

After reading commetns and going back to view the pic again, it does look awlful fake. At any rate, I hope they are relaxing and enjoying life whereever they are.

I think it is fake because of the shadow around Brad's head. The shelf behind him isn't flat. The shadow around his head perfectly outlining his ear wouldn't be so perfect if he was against that background. That's just my opinion. I think the top pic has been photoshopped.

If you click on that People article. People showed a photo of BAMZ arriving back from their South of France trip. Brad had short hair. Maddox has a haircut similar to the one in this photo. Zaharas hair was covered like it often is. So I certainly think that she could ppossibly have a fro. Also Angelina may very well wear her hair differently when not out in public.

The photo is NOT fake. This was taken on 4/3 in Paris. We saw the pics of A&M arriving home. She had the same clothes on as did Maddox, he still has some of the face paint on. Pitt shaved his head in prep for O13. You can clearly see the woman's left arm on Maddox who's sitting on Brad's knee with his hand holding him. You people are crazy!

I think this is a real photo. The second photo was changed because Jared or Steph just wanted to show what the family would look like alone together. Mad's face looks weird though. He looks starved. And I see Brad's got his old haircut back, thank God. Why is a hotel staff member putting her face so close to Zahara's? I'd be like, ew, get away from my baby, no matter who you are. Yeah, something about this picture looks "off" to me too. However, maybe Angie DID have her hair dyed for the Shishedo shoot, and Maddox does have some remenants of his make-up on from the cat face that was painted on at the toy store. Brad does look really young and caught in the headlights.

Okay, thanks for that. Maybe the reason why I didn't really process that part was because I didn't see it the way you did. From my point of view, you have blown it way out of proportion. Most people think Africa is this Horrible, Horrible place where a foriegn insect won't even survive. Angelina Jolie is a goodwill Ambassador, from all indications, she has a deep affection for the continent and its people. if she does have her baby in Namibia, then I believe that this is an act that shows that although, we have our poor, we have problems with the govts, we are not as developed as the wetern parts of the world, we still have something to offer. We are not just suffering and pain. So maybe she is making a statement but I don't believe it is detrimental to her children as you would like us to believe. It might be a foreign concept to some but there are people who prefer to have thei children in other countries besides theirs. The rationale behind this is that it gives the children access to these countries. Most people aren't content with their immediate surrounding, they want to explore the world, be it Physically or Mentally. Imagine this for a sec, the three children are all grown up, living in the U.S. Maddox wants to learn more about Cambodia, Z decides she wants to visit Ethiopia and then Baby is left with nothing. Oh, he is an American Citizen, so are his/her brother and sister. I have no children but when I do, I'd like to believe that I would do everything in my power to make sure none of them feel left out and with children, it is very easy to get that feeling. Have you seen kids fight just because one got a different thing than the other? With my nieces, it is always colors. "How come she got a brighter color" it is so stupid but that is the nature of Kids. I know I'd be a little resentful if my brothers and sisters had claim to something I don't.

I can't say I have been to Namibia and I can't say I haven't. Have I confused you yet? okay, I have been to south Africa and until the late 1980's /early 1990's, Namibia was under South Africa. Technically I have not been to the New Namibia i.e as its own country. Like South Africa, it is a beautiful place, The Atmosphere is more European- quiet and less frantic. If you are a nature lover, you'd have a blast. What I remember fondly is riding in the topless jeep around the game reserve. Contrary to what most people think, the animals are not wild. They actually stay away from the cars. We must have spent over three hours on the reserve and it was just amazing. Nice beaches, nice relief from the burning sun (lol). Shopping Centers were just starting up back then so they didn't have much to offer. If you are into African Artifacts, then it is heaven. I can't say much since my visit was ages ago and my sisters and I were for the most part, locked away in boarding school (lol).

Thanks, African Girl! Sounds like a good place for a vacation, and full of friendly people. I've heard giant sand dunes mentioned a couple of times. I keep picturing Angie wanting to ride a dune buggy over them, and Brad saying Honey, not until you give birth! Is most of the country desert terrain? Remember The Truth
It is mostly dry and hot there, that's why the beach is your best, best friend. If you are like me, you'd be just a few steps away from the beach. It get cooler at night, so that's a plus. It is a fun place, the girls (went to an all girls boarding school) were very nice....always making sure we were doing the right things and not offending anyone. They took us under their wings which was surprising, considering what they could have done, being a stranger in a country were you barely speak the language can be difficult.

I am a Brad fan because he is a decent person, no one who truly knows him has ever said anything bad about him. Even his ex's. I love that he wants to do some good in this world. I admire Angie for her good work. I used to cut, she showed me that I can deal with problems a different way. She did. Why do we say every child has the right to go to school?
1. Every child should have the chance to go to school, but many do not.
2. Education is a human right, included in international frameworks like the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
➢ This means that governments have a duty to ensure that every child is able to realize this right to receive a free basic education.
3. The world’s governments also committed to the promise that by the year 2015, they would make sure that every child in every country had the chance to finish primary school (known as elementary school in the U.S.). They also promised to achieve equal numbers of girls and boys in both primary (elementary) and secondary (junior and senior high) school.
➢ These promises are part of the six Education for All goals, to which 164 countries committed at the World Education Forum in Dakar, Senegal in 2000.
➢ They are also part of the Millennium Development Goals for reducing global poverty by the year 2015, to which 189 countries committed.

Are we keeping the promise to make sure every child goes to school?
4. No. Today more than 100 million children around the world do not attend school at all. More than 95% of these children live in developing countries.
5. Another 150 million children will drop out before they finish primary school. In the United States, virtually all children finish elementary school.
6. The majority of countries are not meeting the Education for All and Millennium Development Goals for education.
➢ 94 countries, out of 149 for which we have information, missed the first goal: to achieve gender parity (the same number of girls and boys) in both primary and secondary schools by 2005.
➢ Right now, 67 countries are unlikely to reach the goal, set for 2015, of having every child complete primary school.

Which groups of children don’t attend school?
7. Some of the children who have the hardest time attending school are poor children, girls, orphans, children with disabilities, child laborers, and children forced to leave their homes because of war or a natural disaster.
8. Nearly 55 million of the children who don’t go to primary school are girls, and more than 40 million of the children who don’t go to primary school live in Africa.
➢ In Africa, 54% of all girls drop out of school before they finish primary school, and only one out of every five go to secondary school.
➢ In Chad, an African country, only 10% of secondary school-aged girls had completed elementary school. In Burkina Faso, only 20% had.
9. Education is also very difficult for children in South Asia. There are 25 million children in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh alone who do not go to school.
10. The situation is worse for orphans and other vulnerable children, who may have to drop out of school to help care for their brothers and sisters or to work, or who can’t afford the fees and other costs of attending school.
11. Conflict and natural disasters keep millions of children out of school.
➢ In 2002, 27 million refugee and other affected young people aged 5 to 17 had no access to formal schooling.
➢ Only 6% of children who have fled their country as refugees are enrolled in secondary school. Going to school is even harder for people who have been forced to leave their homes, but who still live in their original countries.

Why is school important?

Reducing Poverty
12. Countries where more people go to school and become literate are able to grow their economies more quickly and become less poor.
13. No country has ever achieved continuous and rapid economic growth without first having at least 40% of its adults be able to read and write.
14. People who go to school are able to earn more money to support their families.
➢ Studies show that a single year of primary school increases the wages people earn later in life by 5-15% for boys, and even more for girls. A single year of secondary school increases wages by 15-25%.
15. Education even improves farming, increasing the amount that people are able to grow and harvest.

Improving Health
16. A single year of education for girls can help decrease the chance that their children will die as infants by 5-10%.
17. Mothers with an education are 50% more likely to make sure their children receive vaccines they need to protect them from deadly diseases.
18. In Africa, children whose mothers received an elementary school education are 40% less likely to die before the age of five.
19. Educating girls is the best way to reduce fertility so that families are smaller. This makes it easier for parents to provide for and care for their children.

Fighting HIV/AIDS
20. Education may be the single best way to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
21. Women with education beyond primary school are five times more likely than illiterate women to know the basic facts about HIV/AIDS.
22. A study in Swaziland showed that more than 70% of young people in school were not sexually active, while nearly 70% of those out of school were sexually active.
23. Among young people living in rural Uganda, those with no education are three times more likely than those with a secondary school education to be HIV-positive.
24. A Zambian study found that HIV/AIDS spreads twice as fast among uneducated girls as it did among girls who were educated.

Strengthening Democracy
25. Education helps people, particularly women, to speak up and get involved in their communities and their governments. This makes democracy stronger, and helps make sure men and women are treated equal.
26. A recent study found that educated women in Bangladesh are three times more likely to participate in political meetings than uneducated women.

Why don’t some kids go to school?
27. In many countries, families must pay fees to send their children to school. These fees can be as much as a month’s worth of wages for the family.
28. Many poor families do not have enough money to pay these fees, or to buy the required uniforms or textbooks.
29. Many children must work – either at home or at a paying job – to help their families survive. They cannot afford to take time to go to school instead.
30. Sometimes schools are very far apart, so children must walk long distances to get to school. In rural areas, schools might be five or ten miles apart.
31. The walk to school can be unsafe, especially for girls. For children in countries with high levels of violence, any walk at all can be dangerous.
32. In some schools, there may be no bathrooms for students to use. This is especially hard for female students, who can face sexual harassment and often do not have private places to use the bathroom.
33. In some places, there may be too many children – up to 5 times the average number of students in your classes - and not enough teachers or textbooks.

What about the role of teachers?
34. Many countries just don’t have enough teachers. In Zambia, there are an average of 64 students to every primary teacher, and you can find classrooms there and in other poor countries with as many as 150 students per teacher.
➢ The international goal is no more than 40 students per teacher.
35. The United Nations estimates that at least 15 million more teachers will be needed to meet the goal of getting all children to complete primary school by 2015.
36. It is especially important that many of these teachers are women. Hiring more women teachers can help increase the numbers of girls that go to school, and can help make sure girls and boys are treated equally in the classroom.
37. Many teachers in developing countries don’t have the experience and training they need to teach children effectively.
➢ In Uganda, 50% of primary teachers have no formal training at all.
38. Teachers’ jobs in poor countries are especially difficult, due to large class sizes, few textbooks and other materials, and schools that do not have bathrooms or other important facilities.

What should developing countries do to put all children in school?
39. Countries must make school free for all children. When governments eliminate school fees like they did in Kenya, Uganda and Malawi, millions of new students turn up at school, as much as doubling the number of students.
40. Governments must make special efforts to help children who face the hardest time getting into school, including poor children, girls, orphans, children with disabilities, and children forced to leave their homes because of war or a natural disaster.
➢ For instance, governments can pay for the uniforms or textbooks of the poorest and most vulnerable children, or could give their families money if they send their children to school.
41. Governments must build more schools in more places so children don’t have to travel as far to get to schools.
42. Countries must hire and train more teachers. They must make sure that these teachers are women as well as men.
43. Schools must provide a quality education that actually teaches children the skills they need.

What can rich countries and international organizations do to help developing countries meet their goals?
44. Rich countries should increase their aid to poorer countries to help them improve their school systems. Many donor countries do not contribute their fair share to fund basic education.
➢ Rich countries now give $2 billion each year to help poor countries pay for basic education. They need to give $10 billion more each year to put all children in school by 2015.
➢ The United States, for example, gives a total of $465 million each year – the approximate cost of building just 17 U.S. high schools.
45. Rich countries can forgive the debt that poor countries owe them. Debt payments have kept many poor countries from spending money on important things like education, but debt relief has made a huge difference in those countries that have received it.
➢ Niger is using 40% of the money it would have had to repay to other countries to fund its universal primary education program.

What can I do to help?
46. Participate in the 2006 Global Campaign for Education Send My Friend to School Week. To learn more, go to http://www.campaignforeducationusa.org
47. Make a poster or a cutout “friend” that helps “Make the Case” for why all children should go to school, and send your poster or friend to Washington, DC.

I haven't been in the plains or savannah of Africa as you African Girl, but I've watched enough animal shows to know that wild animals do have a natural wariness about humans. They will attack only when threatened or mothers are protecting their young. Even great white sharks aren't out to get humans; they mistake humans as big, fat seals on their surfboards. Tigers, on the other hand, are another matter and they are man-killers.

One of the things I have to do in my lifetime is an African safari.

I hate to go against Elena (Hi, btw), but the picture does look phony to me. Brad looks different. Never mind the haircut that harkens to the days of Beaver's dad, Mr. Cleaver, but he looks years - if not a decade - younger there. (Mind you, I thought the recent haircut of him stepping out after his return from DR was a nice cut.) The pose with Maddox is odd. Was Maddox sitting on a high chair to be that height up to Brad? Certainly Brad couldn't comfortably hold him up like that with his hand where it is.

Furthermore, I thought People was the magazine in good favor with Brad and Angie and not necessarily US Weekly. Why would US Weekly get the official pictures? US Weekly certainly isn't as bad as the scum-dredging Star and National Enquirer. And I realize that US Weekly did a nice writeup of the charity cause and organization Angie was advocating when they covered her trip to Washington. But still, I would think that People would have received any official pictures first before US Weekly.

Ah well, it's no big deal if it's fake or real. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
