Brittany Murphy has pulled a fast one on us, eloping with screenwriter Simon Monjack, reports Us Weekly.

The 29-year-old Clueless star (this is her first marriage) was spotted partying with her new hubby at a Playboy event at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, where both were sporting wedding rings.

“[Murphy and Montjack] were drinking Crown Royal, and [they] didn’t want photographers to take pictures of their rings,” said one source. “They were waiting to make a formal announcement on Monday. They were dancing in the V.I.P. section and around DJ Reach’s booth. They looked very excited, happy and jovial.”

Happy Feet came out on top this holiday weekend for the second week in a row, raking in $37.9 million. Pictured above is Nicole Kidman, Brittany Murphy, Elijah Wood, and Robin Williams walking the red carpet earlier today at the UK premiere of Happy Feet at Empire Leicester Square in London, England. Nicole looks so serious next to Brittany but gorgeous nonetheless! Elijah’s boyish looks really shine through alongside those ginormous penguins!

• Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures are parting ways. The studio will sever its 14-year relationship with Cruise’s film production company because "his recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount." "It’s nothing to do with his acting ability, he’s a terrific actor.  But we don’t think that someone who effectuates creative suicide and costs the company revenue should be on the lot." Cruise’s partner, Paula Wagner said their company has already obtained commitments from two hedge funds, whose names would be announced soon.
• Star reports that George Clooney and Ellen Barkin are an item, saying the two got close while filming on the set of Ocean’s 13.
