At the event, the 33-year-old actress had a piece of advice for the young designers “Stay true to yourself. As with any form of the arts, that’s the most important thing.”

Charlize Theron is designated by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as a United Nations Messenger of Peace at The United Nations on Monday in New York City. (She’s toting around Hogan’s tan messenger bag.)

Theron, 33, will have a special focus on ending violence against women by assisting Ban’s campaign, “UNite to End Violence against Women.”

Charlize agreed with Ban to pressure Hollywood into making more movies about social issues. “I don’t necessarily want to forget that my job as an actor is to entertain,” Theron said.

“But let me tell you, there’s a tremendous feeling when you can do it with a sense of responsibility, a sense of truth, with a sense of greater truth, which is not necessarily always good to look at or nice to look at,” Charlize said.

Charlize Theron rubs shoulders with Christian Dior designer John Galliano at the Christian Dior & Chinese Artists event in Beijing, China on Saturday.

The 47-year-old designer has been designing for Christian Dior for over 10 years, after having worked for Givenchy previously.Galliano and Charlize have a close relationship where he has designed numerous couture dresses for her. He also has cited Charlize as his muse.

The 33-year-old actress was named a United Nations messenger of Peace on Friday with a special focus on ending violence against woman. She becomes the tenth messenger of peace for the U.N.

Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend continue to promote their latest film, Battle in Seattle at the Clarity Theater on Monday in Beverly Hills.

The 33-year-old actress made a guest appearance on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Monday night.

During the interview, Charlize admitted she had ‘maybe’ had an alcoholic drink before joining Jay Leno on stage. She then sang a short duet with Leno, who when offered some of her margarita joked, ” ‘I had some Ecstasy a minute ago.”

Charlize Theron looks elegant in red Dior for the Battle In Seattle screening at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in New York City on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old actress made a guest appearance on The View earlier this week to promote Battle in Seattle, which was directed by Stuart Townsend.

“This is a great night for him,” Charlize told ET. “This took like five or six years of his life.”

As for joining the project, Charlize admitted, “I didn’t want to come across too desperate, so I tried to be subtle to [land my part].”
