Mary-Kate Olsen Gets Villa-fied

Mary-Kate Olsen plays her usual camera-shy self as she makes a mad dash into Villa Lounge in West Hollywood on Saturday.

MK and twin sister Ashley, 22, apparently have clashing work ethics. “Ashley really wants to be a respected businesswoman and be taken seriously,” a pal tells In Touch. “MK does too, but she hasn’t been willing to give up her lifestyle and act like an adult for their job.”

Tattles the source, “Ashley came to a difficult decision. She decided that MK should not be involved with [the couture end of their joint fashion empire] The Row. She asked her sister to step back from her current responsibilities until she has her personal life together… It’s tough because The Row was so much of Mary-Kate’s idea.”

MK will reportedly focus on their more affordable line, Elizabeth and James.

Spencer Made $50K Off Of Mary-Kate In High School

Last Thursday, Mary-Kate Olsen told America that That Hills star Spencer Pratt had a bad temper.

The day after, Spencer retaliated by calling MK the uglier of the Olsen twins.

Now, digging back into the archives of Details magazine, Spencer proudly admitted in a 2007 interview with that mag that he “made $50,000 in high school by selling a photo he took of Mary-Kate drinking at a party.”

Is that the photo here pictured to the left??? $50,000????? Maybe the $100,000 figure Spencer told Letterman for making a club appearance doesn’t sound so far-fetched after all…

Mary-Kate’s new indie film, The Wackness, opens in limited release this Thursday, July 3.

Spencer Pratt: Mary-Kate Is The Uglier Olsen

The Hills resident bad boy Spencer Pratt is lashing out against Mary-Kate Olsen, who commented to David Letterman Thursday that Spencer had a bad temper.

MK mentioned that Spencer played soccer at her high school and “he does not have a good temper. He would walk off the field.”

But Spencer tells Us Weekly that Mary-Kate went to Campbell Hall in North Hollywood while he attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica.

Here’s what Spencer said in retaliation: “I don’t really get why she’d use my name to get press for her little indie film that no one’s going to see. She should probably focus more on not getting dressed in the dark than on me… I know I’ve made it in Hollywood when a famous troll is talking about me on Letterman. I forgive her, though. She’s had to go through life as the less cute twin, which must be tough.”

Mary-Kate’s new indie film, The Wackness, opens in limited release on Thursday, July 3.

Mary-Kate Olsen is Pastel Pretty

Mary-Kate Olsen (in vintage Pucci) attends the after-party for her new movie, The Wackness, at The Gramercy Hotel on Wednesday in New York City. (The event was hosted by The Cinema Society and Sony Cierge. Pictured from earlier in the evening at the screening can be found here.)

Sir Ben Kingsley recently talked about his enthusiastic make-out scene in a telephone booth with the 22-year-old actress in The Wackness.

“She was completely in charge,” the actor, 64, told People of the 20-second lip lock.

“It went extremely well and she was very focused. She was very good, very professional. She was quite wonderful.” Kingsley told Fox News. “She is an amazing professional and just has such a free spirit that draws you close to her.” More Here! »

Mary-Kate Olsen is the Wackness

Mary-Kate Olsen (in vintage Lanvin) channels her inner-Jedi at the screening of her new dramedy, The Wackness, at the AMC Loews 19th Street East on Wednesday in New York City.

The 22-year-old actress/designer joined costars Olivia Thirlby and Josh Peck at the event. The film is set in the summer of 1994 in the streets of New York, which are pulsing with hip-hop. Set against this backdrop, Luke Shapiro (Peck) spends his last summer before college selling dope throughout New York City, trading it with his shrink (Ben Kingsley) for therapy, while crushing on his step-daughter (Thirlby). Olsen plays a free-spirited herbalist named Union.

The Wackness opens in limited release on Thursday, July 3.

Mary-Kate Olsen is a Fendi Freak

Mary-Kate Olsen and twin sister Ashley leave an art store with a bodyguard in tow on Monday in New York City.

The Olsen twins had their bodyguard carry their newly purchased large piece of art back to their swank New York City pad.

Mary-Kate, who just turned 22 this past Friday along with Ash, is the one pictured in front with the plaid buttondown shirt and carrying the Fendi handbag.

Mary-Kate Olsen - “Elle” July 2008

Mary-Kate Olsen dons a silk chiffon dress from Stella McCartney with a belt from Azzedine Alaïa on the July 2008 cover of Elle Magazine. Here are some interview snippets:

On profit motives complicating or even causing sibling rivalry: “[My twin sister Ashley and I] don’t agree all the time. The way we go about business or designing or making a decision is that we come at it from two completely different angles that at the end of the day, even when we don’t think we’re agreeing with each other, we are agreeing. We’re just getting there in different ways. Unless you’re a twin, you honestly can’t know how close twins can be. There’s such a strength… It stems from love, and it stems from passion. We’re driven people. I do know I can’t work in an office. Ashley, on the other hand, loves going to an office.”

On describing her casual attitude toward fashion: “I don’t know—you’re either on the worst-dressed list or you’ve started a fashion trend. I think there’s a real disconnect between the media’s perception of fashion and the fashion world’s idea of fashion. I don’t know why I wear some of the things I wear. I like wearing crazy things sometimes. I like being playful. Sometimes I feel like I’m playing dress-up and becoming a character. It’s sort of like an art. It can change your mood or the way that people are attracted to you.”

On feeling sexy: “The affirmations you get as a child star are so different from the ones I presume one seeks as a woman. I feel like I can be sexy when I want to be. I think all women are sexy. Some may feel it more than others. I personally think the women who are the most sexy are the women who are truly themselves, whatever that may be.”
