Movie industry executives may be forgiven for thinking that the Viacom chairman was mad to let Tom Cruise go after a 14-year relationship simply because Mr. Cruise seemed a little off balance. After all, the movies made by Viacom’s Paramount Pictures studio and the actor’s production company earned more than $2.5 billion at the box office.

Yet, if you ask economists and other academics that study the movie industry, Mr. Redstone’s decision was, in financial terms, spot on. The best reason to get rid of Mr. Cruise or, for that matter, Mel Gibson, or Lindsay Lohan, is not their occasional aberrant behavior. They, like most marquee names in Hollywood, are simply not worth the expense. -- New York Times

Looks like Lindsay Lohan has invented a new sport: BIKINI BOXING! Blue bikini-clad Lindsay and her new beau Harry Morton (pictured after the jump) received some boxing training at the Polaroid Beach House in Malibu yesterday morning. Later that same day, Lindsay's mom, Dina Lohan, blasted back at Georgia Rule execs saying that they were "way out of line" for scolding her daughter. She told Access Hollywood that Lindsay "was wearing winter clothes and she was telling people, 'I need water, I need water.' And they just want to get the shot, want to get the shot... I'm a mother and will do what I need to do to protect my child. … She's a human being. There was one day when she was late, and they (director Garry Marshall and costar Jane Fonda) worked the schedule around her. Garry, Jane, everybody loves her." Many more pictures in the gallery!

Longtime couple Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz are still going strong, taking a vacation in Mexico with kids they both apparently know. Nieces? Nephews? Britney's illegitimate children? Justin, 25, and Cameron, 33, have been dating for over three years now.

Justin's 25-year-old best friend Trace Ayala (formerly engaged to Elisha Cuthbert) also came along for the getaway. Trace and Justin are also business partners for their William Rast clothing line (Justin's t-shirt is William Rast). More pictures in the gallery!
