Aziz Ansari Says His Mom 'Doesn't Even Like' Acting On 'Master Of None'!

Aziz Ansari is opening up about his real-life parents – Fatima and Shoukath – starring as his parents in his hit Netflix show Master Of None.

“My dad is a practicing gastroenterologist; my mom works at the office. When they come to do the series, they’re using their vacation time to help me,” the 34-year-old actor recently told NPR. “My mom doesn’t even like acting on the show. She’s really just doing it because she loves me very much.”

“She hates acting,” Aziz added. “Before the second season, when we announced the second season, she’s like, “OK, this season the mom character’s on vacation or she’s just gone.” And I was like, “She can’t be on vacation the whole time.” She’s like, “No, maybe she’s at a wedding sometimes.” She just didn’t want to be a part of it. She did it because she loves me and my brother is also heavily involved with the show. It’s a really special thing that we get to do this together.”

“And after the [first] season aired, my dad came to New York and we went on Stephen Colbert‘s show together,” Aziz concluded. “And we went out to dinner afterwards, and he was telling me… ‘The reason I’m acting in the show and doing all of this is just to spend more time with you and to see you’.”

Aziz Ansari's 'Master of None' - Will There Be A Season 3?

The second season of Master of None premiered this weekend and if you’re anything like us, you’ve already finished your binge.

One big question looming at the end of a very fantastic sophomore outing is – will there be a third season?

SPOILER ALERT! – creator Aziz Ansari‘s character Dev seems to end up in a happy place with Francesca (Alessandra Mastronardi).

So Aziz isn’t so sure he has another season in him.

“I don’t know if we’re going to do a season three. I wouldn’t be surprised if I needed a looonng break before I could come back to it,” Aziz told Vulture. “I’ve got to become a different guy before I write a third season, is my personal thought. I’ve got to get married or have a kid or something. I don’t have anything else to say about being a young guy being single in New York eating food around town all the time.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK? Should there be a third season of Master of None? What did you think of season 2?

Aziz Ansari's Parents Fatima & Shoukath Get More Love For 'Master of None' Than He Does!

Aziz Ansari is tired of his parents – Fatima and Shoukath – getting more praise than him for starring in his hit Netflix show, Master of None.

While making an appearance on Late Night on Thursday evening (May 11), host Seth Meyers expressed that the thing he “loves the most” was that Aziz‘s actual parents play his parents in the show.

“That’s what everyone loves, no one cares about me,” Aziz joked. “My dad is always asking for a higher pay or something.

That same evening, Aziz hit the red carpet with his parents Fatima and Shoukath at the premiere of Master Of None season two held at SVA Theatre in New York City.

Aziz Ansari Won't Do A Fake Indian Accent to Get a Role

Aziz Ansari takes the latest cover of New York Magazine.

Here’s what the 34-year-old Master of None creator/star had to share with the mag:

On refusing to do fake Indian accents: “When I first started out, there were a few times where it was like, ‘We want you to come in for this thing.’ I’d be like, ‘Do I have to do an accent?’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want to do it.’ I have nothing against people that do it, but I just kind of decided in my head that if I did that one time, I would get asked to do it every time, because even then I knew that people have a very limited imagination for what your talent is.”

On casting his dad and Muslim representation on TV: “If every time you see a Muslim person, it’s the f-cking guy from 24 or Homeland, yeah, it’s going to shape your opinion of all these people. If every time you saw a Muslim person on TV, and it’s my dad, you’ll be like, ‘These goofy people! They’re probably gonna ask me for a bite of my sandwich.’ I don’t think Islamophobic people have hate in their heart. I’m not saying it’s justified, but representation is part of the problem.”

On whether there’s going to be a season three: “I don’t know if we’re going to do a season three. I wouldn’t be surprised if I needed a looonng break before I could come back to it. I’ve got to become a different guy before I write a third season, is my personal thought. I’ve got to get married or have a kid or something. I don’t have anything else to say about being a young guy being single in New York eating food around town all the time.”
