It was a night full of memorable moments at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards, but it didn’t translate into great ratings for the annual awards show.

The highlight of the evening was Lea Michele stepping out in public for the first time to accept an award following the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith. While the appearance was never officially announced, it was highly anticipated that it would happen.

The show only ended up garnering 2.6 million viewers and marks the first time the show has not reached 3 million viewers since 2006, according to Deadline.

Melissa Benoist hits the blue carpet at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (August 11) in Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old actress was joined at the awards show by her Glee co-star and rumored fiance Blake Jenner, 20.

Blake beat out Melissa to win the award for Breakout TV Star for his work on Glee!

It was an eventful night at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (August 11) in Los Angeles.

1. Lea Michele Accepts Award & Gives Tearful Speech

The most buzzed about moment was when Lea Michele stepped out on stage to accept the award for Choice TV Actress: Comedy and gave a tearful speech thanking her fans for their love after the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith. Her Glee co-stars gave her moral support by standing behind her during the speech and then embraced her in a hug after she finished.

2. The Winners Are Revealed!

More than 85 awards were handed out throughout the evening! There were so many awards that there wasn’t enough time to even announce all the winners during the broadcast. Some of the big winners of the night were The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 and Pretty Little Liars. Make sure to check out the full winners list!

3. Harry Styles Twerks in the Audience!

One of the funniest moments during the show had to have been when the hosts of the show convinced Harry Styles to get out of his seat and do a twerk for the audience. Following the bit, he took to his Twitter account to say: “Note to self. Don’t ‘twerk’.” LOL!

Chord Overstreet hits the blue carpet while attending the 2013 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (August 11) in Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old actor was joined at the event by his Glee co-stars, including Becca Tobin, Jacob Artist, Alex Newell, and Lauren Potter.

“Teen Choice-ing it up with @jacobartist,” Becca wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you guys so much for all the support and voting! It means the world to us. Y’all are so awesome, I love you all!” Chord tweeted after the cast won the award for Choice TV Show: Comedy.

Michelle Rodriguez is pretty in purple while walking the carpet at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (August 11) in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old actress was nominated for Choice Summer Movie Star: Female for her work in Fast & Furious 6 but she lost out to Sandra Bullock for The Heat.

Arrow‘s Katie Cassidy and Under the Dome‘s Alexander Koch were also seen attending the show that evening!

Lea Michele tears up while giving an emotional speech on stage at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (August 11) in Los Angeles.

The 26-year-old actress made her first public appearance since the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith to accept the award for Choice TV Actress: Comedy for her work on Glee.

Ashton Kutcher hops on stage to give a motivational speech while accepting the Old Guy Award at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (August 11) in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old Jobs actor first told the crowd that his real name is Chris and then told them what he learned in life before he became Ashton.

“There are some really amazing things I learned when I was Chris and I wanted to share those things with you guys because I think it’s helped me be here today. So, it’s really about three things. The first thing is about opportunity. The second thing is about being sexy. The third thing is about living life,” Ashton said. Watch the full speech below!
