The moment that Joe Namath stepped out to make the coin toss at the 2014 Super Bowl on Sunday (February 2) in New Jersey, the only thing people could talk about was his fur jacket!

The 70-year-old former football quarterback is one of the most well known retired players of all time. He played for the New York Jets at the spot where the Super Bowl is being held for the majority of his career.

When Joe was given the coin, he flipped it a little too early and the players weren’t able to make a call yet. Watch below!

Soprano Renee Fleming sounds like an angel while singing the National Anthem at the 2014 Super Bowl on Sunday (February 2) at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The 54-year-old renowned opera singer gave a gorgeous rendition of the song before the big game between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.

“Before the @Broncos & @Seahawks square off in the #Superbowl, I’ll be performing the national anthem. Tune in to @FoxTV at 6 EST to watch” Renee tweeted earlier in the day. “Thanks everyone for all the supportive Tweets!” she added after her performance.

FYI: Renee is wearing a custom Vera Wang black long sleeve gown with pleated accent at the waist and an ivory silk faille floor length wrap coat with exposed shoulder and hand draped detail.

The 2014 Super Bowl is just hours away from being played and we are so excited for all of the entertainment that will be aired during the broadcast.

Opera singer Renee Fleming will be kicking off the festivities with her rendition of the National Anthem (aka “The Star Spangled Banner”). Shortly before that, Queen Latifah will be taking to the stage to sing “America the Beautiful.”

The Super Bowl Halftime Show will be performed this year by Bruno Mars and he will be joined by special guests Red Hot Chili Peppers!

The day is finally here and the 2014 Super Bowl will be played this evening (February 2). When the game starts and the National Anthem is sung, a question on many minds will probably be “Who is Renee Fleming?” Let us fill you in!

The 54-year-old opera singer is one of the most renowned performers in her industry. She can be heard on over 60 different recordings and she has 10 solo albums of her own.

Last year, President Obama awarded Renee with the National Medal of Arts, America’s highest honor for an individual artist. She is also the recipient of four Grammy Awards, most recently winning the prize for Best Classical Vocal Solo in 2013.

“It’s an enormous risk, again because of the spotlight,” Renee said about performing at the Super Bowl during her press conference last week. “I really wanted to present it in a really serious way.”

Melissa McCarthy plays “Mama Pass” while performing a fake version of the 2014 Super Bowl Halftime Show during the cold open for Saturday Night Live on Saturday (February 1) in New York City.

In the sketch, the reporters say that Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were not able to make it to New Jersey for the event because their planes couldn’t take off in the polar vortex, so Broadway performers take over the show.

Bruno Mars chats with reporters while attending the 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII National Anthem and Halftime Show Press Conference on Thursday afternoon (January 30) at the Rose Theater in the Time Warner Center in New York City.

The 28-year-old singer, who will be performing this year’s halftime show, was joined at the event by opera singer Renee Fleming, who will perform the national anthem.

“I ain’t scared if that’s what you think,” Bruno said during the press conference. “Spectacle-wise? I don’t do trapeze and all that stuff. I hope to get people dancing and smiling. If you ever come to one of my shows, it’s just us up there. We’ve got these songs and our instruments and I’m hoping that’s enough.”

FYI: Bruno is wearing head-to-toe Saint Laurent.
