It was a historic night for women at the 2015 Tony Awards, which were held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (June 7) in New York City.
For the first time ever, the Best Musical winner was written solely by women – Fun Home‘s Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori, who also won the awards for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. This year also marked the first time that an all-female writing team won the award for Best Original Score.
In addition to this big wins, it seems this year may have had more wins by women overall than any other year!
The King and I‘s Kelli O’Hara and The Audience‘s Helen Mirren won in the leading acting categories while The King and I‘s Ruthie Ann Miles and You Can’t Take It With You‘s Annaleigh Ashford were victorious in the supporting categories.

Another #TonyAwards first: the amount of female winners across all categories who talked so much about about gender equality this year.
