The new Miss USA Deshauna Barber from the District of Columbia is beaming during a press conference after the 2016 Miss USA pageant on Sunday (June 5) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 26-year-old IT analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce and Logistics Commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit in the U.S. Army was crowned Miss USA that evening.
Deshauna has focused her platform on PTSD treatment for soldiers, as well as suicide prevention in the Armed Forces. Deshauna has a strong connection to the military. Besides for being enlisted, her father is a retired Army Master Sergeant.
In her free time, she loves dancing, hiking, and spending time with her family.
