Kerry Washington made a small but powerful statement of solidarity at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (January 29) in Los Angeles.

The Scandal actress pinned a safety pin to the sleeve of her gown to protest Donald Trump’s swift action against immigrants immediately after he took office.

The safety pin, which symbolizes solidarity with marginalized groups, became an important political statement inspired by Brexit.

“I’ll be wearing one of these tonight. On my arm. To show solidarity. We will not stop fighting for our safety & the safety of our fellow citizens and human beings. #NoBanNoWall #safetypin” Kerry shared before she hit the red carpet.

Kerry was nominated for Outstanding Peformance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for her role in Confirmation, but the award went to Sarah Paulson for her turn in The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

FYI: Kerry is wearing Cavalli Couture white off-the-shoulder long bell-sleeved gown, with allover tonal crystal, pearl and sequin embroidery, in a leopard motif. She finished her look with Stuart Weitzman shoes and Neil Lane jewelry.

Evan Rachel Wood made a promise to herself not to conform when it comes to fashion choices for the red carpet.

The 29-year-old Westworld actress, who looked lovely in a blue velvet Altuzarra suit at the 2017 SAG Awards, explained why she’s sticking to her favorite suits.

“I’ve always wanted to do it,” Evan Rachael told E! News. “I promised myself this year that I would wear a suit to every award show.”

“I dunno, a lot of it is personal,” she added. “I think I myself felt pressure a lot of times that I had to look or dress a certain way, and especially growing up with the industry. So I thought, you know, I’m just gonna go the other way and reach out to a little girl who is like me, possibly. So that’s what I’m going for this year. It’s all about choice. Choice. Options.”

Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps are definitely the most adorable friends at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (January 29) in Los Angeles.

The ladies held hands while walking down the red carpet to celebrate Michelle‘s nomination in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role category for her work in the movie Manchester By the Sea.

The award went to Viola Davis for Fences.

“Sometimes going to fancy awards shows feels a lot like Prom, especially when you pose outside of your front door for pictures. Also, maybe I should bring back the wrist corsage?” Busy captioned the below photo on Instagram.

Sarah Paulson won big at the 2017 SAG Awards!

The 42-year-old actress won big for her work as Marcia Clark in The People vs OJ Simpson. Sarah brought Marcia as her date on the red carpet, and thanked her during her speech.

Sarah also dedicated the award to her co-stars – two of who joined her on the red carpet: Sterling K Brown (with wife Ryan Michelle Bathe) and Courtney B Vance.

Ashton Kutcher opens the show with a speech condemning the ban on immigration at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (January 29) in Los Angeles.

“Good evening, fellow SAG-AFTRA members, and everyone at home, and everyone in airports that belong in my America,” the actor said while opening the show. “You are a part of the fabric of who we are. And we love you and we welcome you.”

Many celebs have spoken out about Trump‘s ban on immigration throughout the show, including the first winner of the night, Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
