'Jojo Rabbit' Wins People's Choice Award at TIFF 2019!

Jojo Rabbit is a winner!

The Taika Waititi-directed film just took home to the top prize at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday (September 15) in Toronto, Canada.

The film won the People’s Choice Award, which makes its Academy Awards prospects bright: last year’s pick for the award, Green Book, also went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.

La La Land, Room, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Imitation Game are all previous recipients of the prestigious TIFF award. Adjust your Oscars predictions accordingly!

The first runner-up was Noah Baumbach‘s Marriage Story, followed by Bong Joon-ho‘s Parasite.

Two Different Movies Called 'American Woman' Had Big Premieres Today!

A movie titled American Woman had its premiere tonight in Toronto and another movie titled American Woman had a premiere in Deauville!

Hong Chau and Sarah Gadon walked the carpet for their American Woman premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday (September 12) at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Canada.

They were joined by co-stars David Dubitt, Jordan Pettle, and Richard Walters, along with writer and director Semi Chellas and novelist Susan Choi.

This American Woman movie is fictionalized re-telling of the kidnapping of heiress Patty Hearst from the perspective of Jenny, a political activist assigned to take care of her.

Sienna Miller attended the premiere of her movie American Woman that same day in France and this is a totally different film!

Kerry Washington Makes Epic Entrance at 'American Son' TIFF Premiere!

Kerry Washington hits the red carpet at the premiere of American Son during the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday (September 12) at the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto, Canada.

The 42-year-old actress was joined at the event by co-stars Jeremy Jordan and Eugene Lee, as well as director Kenny Leon and writer Christopher Demos-Brown.

American Son is an adaptation of the Broadway play of the same name and the entire cast is appearing in the film, which will debut on Netflix on November 1. The movie tells the story of Kendra Ellis-Connor (Washington), the mother of a missing teenage boy, as she struggles to put the pieces together in a South Florida police station.

FYI: Kerry is wearing a Zuhair Murad Couture gown, Noudar hoops and a Brumani ring.

Charlie Hunnam Suits Up for His Second Premiere at TIFF!

Charlie Hunnam looks so handsome while stepping out for the premiere of his film Jungleland during the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday (September 12) at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Canada.

The 39-year-old actor was joined at the event by his co-stars Jessica Barden and Fran Kranz, as well as director Max Winkler.

This is Charlie‘s second movie to premiere at TIFF following his movie True History of the Kelly Gang!

Here’s the synopsis of Jungleland: Stanley (Hunnam) manages his boxer brother Lion (Jack O’Connell) but when a devastating loss in the ring leaves the pair in debt, an opportunity to recoup the cash leads to a series of misadventures that threaten to break the bond between them.

Kerry Washington Has Exciting News About Upcoming Movie 'Shadow Force'

Kerry Washington is all smiles while participating in an “In Conversation” interview at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday (September 12) in Toronto, Canada.

The 42-year-old actress opened up about her career and her new Netflix film American Son, which is having its premiere at the festival. The film is an adaptation of the Broadway play of the same name.

Kerry had some exciting news announced that same day. Her upcoming movie Shadow Force, which will also star Sterling K. Brown, was just acquired by Lionsgate, according to THR.

The upcoming action film is said to be in the vein of Mr. and Mrs. Smith!

Javier Bardem Premieres 'Sanctuary' at TIFF 2019

Javier Bardem hits the red carpet for the Sanctuary premiere on Wednesday night (September 11) at the Ryerson Theatre in Toronto, Canada.

Joining the 50-year-old Oscar winner was director Alvaro Longoria as they premiered the new film at TIFF.

Sanctuary is part of the campaign to create the largest protected area on Earth, an Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary, and an analysis of how that can be brought about. Javier is providing a voiceover commentary for the film, which he also produced.

Last month, Javier spoke in support of the global ocean treaty at the United Nations.
