CMA Awards Will Have an Audience, Despite the Pandemic

Unlike all of the other award shows that have been happening during the pandemic in 2020, the 2020 CMA Awards will take place with an audience.

The event is airing live tonight (November 11) from Nashville and the CEO of the Country Music Association, Sarah Trahern, is opening up about what fans can expect.

“Although the show will feel a bit more intimate this year, we look forward to hosting our nominated artists and their guests as we celebrate the best of country music in a fully safe and physically distant environment. It will be an honor to bring the biggest country stars in the world together – in one room – for the first time this year. You won’t want to miss it!” she said.

It seems the audience will be sitting in a socially distanced arrangement and likely will just consist of the nominees and their guests.

Florida Georgia Line will not be at the upcoming 2020 CMA Awards this week.

The duo – Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard – have had to drop out of their appearance at the annual show because Tyler has tested positive for coronavirus.

Florida Georgia Line was set to perform their song “Long Live” during Wednesday night’s event in Nashville.

The CMA did release a statement following Tyler‘s results.

“Although this is incredibly disappointing, not only for the show but also for CMA personally as we care deeply for these artists and only want the best for them and their families, it does reassure us that our protocols are working. Our process enabled us to manage each situation immediately and before either artist ever entered our set. Most importantly, it prevented anyone else from being exposed,” the statement, via Rolling Stone, read.
