Aaliyah News, Pictures, and Videos
The trailer for the upcoming Lifetime movie Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B is finally here!
Alexandra Shipp stars in the film as the late singer who tragically died in a plane crash back in 2001 when she was just 21. While we don’t get any footage from the film in the trailer, we see some of Aaliyah‘s signature dance moves and of course her fashion sense.
Pictured inside: Alexandra walking the red carpet at the 2014 Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party with Emporio Armani on Friday night (September 26) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
FYI: Alexandra is wearing a BCBG romper, Zara shoes, an Erickson Beaman Rocks necklace, and bracelets, rings, and earrings by XIV Karats.
The 24-year-old singer performed his single “Fine China” and his latest song “Don’t Think They Know” while Aaliyah‘s image appeared on the screen behind him.
To end the performance, Nicki Minaj flew down from the ceiling to debut their new collaboration, which will be on Chris‘ upcoming album X, in stores July 16.
Chris was nominated for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, but lost to Miguel.

The song is off of Chris’ upcoming album, X, out July 16.
Chris has said of X, “This album has a lot of substance, from the subject matter and the situations to how it deals with love. It’s really derived from personal experiences. Then again, I always like mixing reality with art.”

Here’s a little tribute to Aailyah featuring The Matrix scene that never was. Actress/singer Nona Gaye took on that part that was originally scripted for the late Aailyah. Watching the video also refreshed my memory that Lost‘s Harold Perrineau was also in The Matrix…
