Abbi Jacobson Lands Comedy Central First-Look Deal with IIana Glazer!

Abbi Jacobson happily poses alongside Marisa Tomei while attending an Equity and Allies – The Role of Men in Hollywood at Comedy Central discussion on Sunday (May 6) in Los Angeles.

This is Abbi‘s first official appearance since announcing that she and co-star Ilana Glazer will be coming back for a fifth and final season of Broad City.

Broad City has been our baby and first love for almost ten years, since we started as a web-series,” Glazer and Jacobson said in a statement. “It’s been a phenomenal experience, and we’ve put ourselves into it completely. Broad City‘s always had a spontaneous pace and feeling, and ending after season five honors that spirit. We are very excited to bring new voices and points of view to Comedy Central and continue our collaboration together in new ways.”

Abbi and Ilana have also confirmed that they’ve signed a first-look television deal with Comedy Central parent company Viacom, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and they have three projects in development.

'Broad City' Renewed for Fifth & Final Season

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson‘s Broad City will be coming back for one final season.

Broad City’s Abbi and Ilana may appear to be aimless and full of hair-brained schemes, but Abbi and Ilana IRL have proven to be stellar creator/writer/performer/director/producers,” Kent Alterman, President of Comedy Central, told Deadline. “Their supreme focus on telling new stories, in new worlds, with new talent is nearly scary.”

“It’s purely driven by creative storytelling. They came to us and said, ‘We think that we need to figure out how to resolve a final season.’ They have great ideas about how they want to end it, and the last thing we want to do is to have someone not end something on their terms,” he added.

The fifth season will air in 2019.

Dave Franco & Abbi Jacobson Make Drama Debuts with '6 Balloons' at SXSW 2018!

Dave Franco is dapper as he poses alongside co-star Abbi Jacobson while attending the premiere of their latest film 6 Balloons held during the 2018 SXSW Festival at ZACH Theatre on Monday (March 12) in Austin, Texas.

The 32-year-old actor and Abbi, 34, were joined at the event by the film’s screenwriter and director Marja-Lewis Ryan, and SXSW senior programmer Jarod Neece.

Based on the personal story of producer Samantha Housman, the film follows a woman (Jacobson) whose brother (Franco) relapses on heroin, while living with his six-month-old daughter.

“I loved the different points of view that were addressed, and this is my first experience in this genre,” Abbi expressed about the film (via Deadline). “I was excited that Dave was gonna be my partner in it because this was new for both of us. We kind of could lean on each other.”

“I knew that I was very lucky that [Ryan] even considered me for a role like this because I had never done anything like this,” Dave added. “I figured worst-case scenario, it just disappears; best-case scenario, it shows me in a slightly different light, and people can maybe start to see me in different roles.”

FYI: Dave is wearing a Sandro suit.
