Zayn and rising superstar Zhavia have teamed up for a brand new duet of the Aladdin classic “A Whole New World,” which will be featured in the film’s end credits and on the Walt Disney Records soundtrack, and is available today (May 9).
The new updated rendition of the classic song is produced by Saltwives aka Alex Oriet and David Phelan, and the music video was directed by Philip Andelman.
“The selection of artists, producer and tonal direction was critical for the success of updating a classic song like this,” said Mitchell Leib, president of Music & Soundtracks for the Walt Disney Studios. “ZAYN‘s vocals are like no other and his artistic imprint immediately brought a contemporary and diverse presence. Additionally, ZAYN could have chosen any artist in the world to collaborate with on the duet, but he personally selected Zhavia for her unique perspective, powerful vocal abilities and to platform a talented new artist, ensuring that the audience could discover this song, again, for the first time.”

Mena Massoud is all smiles during an interview at the Build Series on Monday (May 6) in New York City.
The 27-year-old actor opened up about the process he went through to book the role of Aladdin in the new Aladdin movie.
“I sent in an audition tape when it came out to the world. They had put on all these public casting calls and my agent sent me a request to put in a tape. And then we didn’t hear anything for four months. Usually, as an actor, if you didn’t hear back in a month, it’s usually dead in the water, so I moved on from it as actors do and I forgot about it,” Mena said.
“Four months later we get a call… so from that point things picked up. I did another tape. I flew to London twice to test for it with Naomi [Scott] a few times. And then I booked it,” he added.
Will Smith is responding to the backlash over his blue Genie in Aladdin, including all the memes that were circulating.
“It was very funny,” Will told Empire about seeing the memes. “There was a Sonic The Hedgehog / Genie frog.”
Will continued, “Everything is under such critical scrutiny. I came up in an era where there was no internet. It’s a new thing that I’m trying to get a handle on.”
“It even came with apologies from the cynics who were so adamant initially,” Guy added. “I’ve never seen apologies in that world. I thought, ‘Oh well, great, we’re back to where I’d hoped we’d be.’”
The 50-year-old actor who plays Genie was joined by co-stars Mena Massoud – who plays Aladdin – and Naomi Scott – who plays Jasmine – as they debuted their new toys ahead of the film’s release.
The dolls, made by Hasbro, include individual characters – two versions of Aladdin, two versions of Jasmine, two versions of Genie, Jafar and Dalia.
You can pre-order the Aladdin toys at Hasbro.com before they hit shelves on April 22.
