Alex O'Loughlin in Treatment for Prescription Drugs

Alex O’Loughlin will be missing at least one episode of Hawaii Five-0 while he completes treatment for prescription drugs.

The 35-year-old actor “is taking a short break to receive supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury,” his rep said in a statement (via EW).

“We respect and support Alex‘s decision,” CBS Studios, which produces the drama, added. “Everyone at CBS TV Studios and Hawaii Five-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return.”

Alex‘s treatment is not expected to affect production, which has already filmed 19 episodes. After episode 20 is completed, the show will then take a short break before filming three more episodes for its second season.

Joel Edgerton: GQ Australia's Man of the Year!

Joel Edgerton looks dapper on the cover of GQ Australia‘s Men of the Year issue.

The 37-year-old Great Gatsby actor “has embraced the spirit of the Australian man of today. At GQ we like a man with patience, skill and the determination to take the ups and downs of life, but never give up on his dream, and this is the reason why we have named Joel our Man of the Year,” editor Nicholas Smith said.

Hawaii Five-0 star Alex O’Loughlin, who was named the mag’s Actor of the Year, and Charlie’s AngelsRachael Taylor (Woman of the Year) also got their own covers!

Alex “caught the acting bug when he performed in a play at primary school, aged 10, but never in his wildest dreams thought it was something he could do for a living. No – that kind of work was for the bourgeoisie – not someone from a working-class suburb in Canberra. Instead, he left school young, built houses, made cocktails, waited tables – not realising that the little seed was still in there, and had taken root. Since then, his drive, passion and hard work have turned him into one of our hottest acting exports of all time,” GQ Australia notes.

Alex O'Loughlin Covers 'Men's Fitness' August 2011

Hawaii Five-0 star Alex O’Loughlin shows off his toned arms on the cover of Men’s Fitness magazine’s August 2011 issue.

Here’s what the the 34-year-old Australian actor had to share:

On loving workouts outside of the gym: “I much prefer being in the canyons or the hills or the ocean – being outside and using the resistance of the earth and gravity and my own body weight. I’d rather hang from trees and do pull-ups than be in a gym, surrounded by people in Spandex.”

On keeping his mind clear with exercise: “[Attention deficit disorder] went diagnosed and I managed to keep it hidden, but it caused me a lot of frustration. When I stopped being cerebral and became physical, my mind cleared. That’s probably why I like to be so active. It’s a huge part of the balance of who I am.”
