Alexis Bledel and America Ferrara travel to Honduras last month as part of ONE’s Women & Girls Initiative, to see how women are working to lift their families out of extreme poverty and what role US development programs have to play.
Alexis, 31, recently spoke about the initiative. She said, “Women and girls are the best investment the world can make in the fight against extreme poverty because, when you invest in a girl or a woman, that investment helps not only the individual, but it benefits her family and community as well. I wish everyone could see what we saw and the difference these women are making in their communities.”
ONE is hosting a chat with America and Alexis at 12 PM EST today where they will answer questions about the trip, share photos and videos, and talk about how everyone can get involved. People can join the conversation by tuning in to @ONEcampaign and following hashtag #ONEchat on Twitter.
ONE is a global advocacy and campaigning organization backed by more than 3 million people from around the world dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.
