Alexis Bledel Opens Up About Filming More 'Gilmore Girls' Seasons

After the cryptic tweet that led fans to speculate about the possibility of more Gilmore Girls episodes, Alexis Bledel is weighing in.

The 35-year-old actress – who next stars in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale – discussed the future of the franchise during Hulu’s Television Critics Association press day on Saturday (January 7) in Pasadena, Calif.

“[Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life] came together so naturally, in a way,” Alexis said. “We had the fan reunion in Austin, we picked up momentum from there, and it came together so quickly. It really seemed like the right thing.”

“I think most, all of us are just wanting to tell a good story,” she went on. “I think that came together in A Year in the Life. The only thing I can say about a future installment of the show would be that it would be about the story and certainly the timing. We want to tell a great story.”

As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate the world. In this terrifying society, Offred must navigate between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids – where anyone could be a spy for Gilead – all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.”

Alexis Bledel Joins Cast of Hulu's 'Handmaid's Tale'

Alexis Bledel is making her return to streaming television in the upcoming Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale, based on the best-selling book of the same name.

The 35-year-old actress most recently reprised her role as Rory Gilmore in Netflix’s revival of Gilmore Girls.

The series is described as taking place in “Gilead, a futuristic but simplified world in which fertility issues abound and women’s rights are a thing of the past. In order to keep the population up, government officials in a totalitarian society send young and fertile women — the ‘handmaids’ — to affluent families, where they are forced to help couples procreate via sexual servitude,” according to THR.

Alexis filmed her role alongside Elisabeth Moss and the rest of the cast last year, but her participation could not be announced until the new year due to her contract with Netflix.

Lauren Graham‘s Gilmore Girls on-screen mother Kelly Bishop totally knew she would end up being with Peter Krause!

“From the start of the show, Kelly named herself my TVM, or TV mom, by which she meant she was taking her character’s role seriously, beyond the pages or sets and out into the real world,” the 49-year-old actress reveals in her new memoir, “Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between)“.

“In a maternal, protective way, she found most of my boyfriends at the time lacking, and once told me I needed someone who was more my equal, like ‘that wonderful actor on Six Feet Under,’” Lauren added (via ET).

Peter, 51, starred in Six Feet Under as Nate Fisher from 2001 to 2005, before joining Lauren in Parenthood in 2010. They’ve been together ever since.

“At our age we’d probably both been through ‘showmances’ that went south and made work an uncomfortable place to be,” Lauren explains in the book. “But ultimately, our mutual wariness gave way — it just sort of happened.”

Lauren and Kelly got together with their co-stars Alexis Bledel and Scott Patterson at a special screening and Q&A panel for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life last night (November 29) at AMC Theater Time Square in New York City.

Gilmore Girls' Alexis Bledel & Matt Czuchry Discuss Shocking Rory & Logan Reveal

SPOILERS! Don’t continue reading if you haven’t finished Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Alexis Bledel and Matt Czuchry are discussing the choice to have their characters Rory and Logan in a heated affair throughout Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Throughout the four, ninety-minute long episodes, it is revealed that Rory is in a relationship and Logan is engaged, yet they’ve been engaging in an affair whenever she’s in London.

“I think they were both in the same place at the same time,” Matt told ET. “Rory and Logan have always had a love for each other that has gone back and forth, and they’ve never really wanted to say goodbye. They’re both in the same place at the same time in this particular story, so it’s a mutual relationship that they’re carrying on.”

“It did surprise me,” Alexis said. “And I think it’s a little uncomfortable for [Rory] even though she’s kind of putting on a brave face that she’s fine with it. I think she’s actually not that emotionally connected to it. I think she’s kind of just going through the motions at this point when we pick up with them.”

Of course, the reveal at the end of the series was huge for Gilmore Girls fans. The famous last four words – revealing that Rory is pregnant – could be referring to a Logan baby!
