Lena Dunham Confirms That There Will Be A 'Girls' Movie!

While HBO’s hit show Girls has yet to air its final season yet, star and creator of the show Lena Dunham already has her sights set on a full-length motion picture!

“We’re doing the movie,” the 30-year-old actress told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’d just want to leave enough space so that we are finding them in a super different place than we left them. But if HBO paid for two Sex and the City ones, they’d better pay for one of ours.”

Lena Dunham & 'Girls' Cast Cover 'The Hollywood Reporter'

The cast of Girls gets dressed up ahead of the final season in this new cover story for The Hollywood Reporter.

Stars Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Adam Driver, Zosia Mamet, Alex Karpovsky, and Andrew Rannells opened up to the mag:

Lena on Adam:” Look, Adam is something unusual that Hollywood was waiting for, and he has ‘movie star’ written all over his face in both an old-fashioned and a modern way. But I do think that — and I experience it, too — it can be harder for people to separate female TV characters from the actors playing them.

Allison on not wanting to do nudity: “So instead, they bent me over a counter with someone’s face to my butt. [Marnie's music partner and love interest Desi performs analingus during season four.] It’s funny because my character actually had the vast majority of sex on the show, but it just doesn’t stick to me. People are like,’ ‘So you’ve never had sex in the show, have you?’ I’m like, what do I have to do? I’ve literally had someone in my butt.”‘(Laughs.) And with that scene, the headlines were all, ‘Brian Williams’ daughter gets her salad tossed.’ Well, no, not to reveal too much, but that is definitely not something I’m interested in, and it’s definitely never happened to me in real life. But the media often decides when to believe us as characters and when to just portray us as ourselves.

Adam on getting cast: “I was doing a play at the time, so I was feeling very self-righteous. I thought that that was what I should be doing, and TV was for evil people, and I didn’t want to be part of any system or corporation. (Laughs.) But because it was HBO, it seemed different. And then the writing was so good, and I thought it would be fun to play someone who does these things that are morally questionable.”

Lena Dunham Reveals Jemima Kirke Tried to Quit 'Girls'

Lena Dunham, Zosia Mamet, Allison Williams, and Jemima Kirke are featured on Glamour magazine’s February 2017 issue – their very first cover together!

Here’s what the Girls stars had to share:

Lena, on Jemima wanting to quit the show: “I think it’s time for us to disclose to the world that, like, three days before season two, Jemima tried to quit. [Laughter.] … I remember being in a cab. And Jemima called me. She was like, ‘I have to tell you something. It’s not a big deal. I don’t want you to freak out. I want to quit the show.’”

Allison, on her biggest complaint about the job: “I started playing one person, then she evolved so much. I got to exercise all kinds of muscles. The least satisfying? I always wanted to be in the show more. [Laughter.] That was my M.O. every year. I wanted to be a piece of furniture in Hannah’s apartment, if that’s what it took.”

Lena, on what she would change about her experience on Girls: “Making my deal with HBO as a 23-year-old woman, I felt that I had so much to prove. I felt like I had to be the person who answered emails the fastest, stayed up the latest, worked the hardest. As much as I loved my job, I really, like, injured myself in some ways. If I had felt like, ‘You’re worthy of eight hours of sleep, not four; you’re worthy of turning your phone off on a Saturday,’ I don’t think it would have changed the outcome of the show. [But] I could have worked with a sense of joy and excitement, rather than guilt and anxiety of being ‘found out.’ The advice I would give any woman going into a job if she has a sense of impostor syndrome would be: There will be nothing if you don’t look out for you. And I can’t wait, on my next project, to go into it with the strength that comes from, like, valuing your own body and your own mental health. Jenni’s like, ‘We’ll believe it when we see it.’”

FYI: All four women are wearing Marc Jacobs clothing and platforms on the cover.

Lena Dunham is Proud 'Girls' Didn't Use Success For Free Stuff

Lena Dunham cozies up to her Girls co-stars Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet in this new feature for Vogue magazine.

Here’s what the cast and others had to share with the mag:

Lena on how the show changed changed television for good: “When I had my first meeting with HBO and they said, ‘What do you want to do?’ I said, ‘I don’t see anyone who’s like me or anyone I love on television,’ And now—I’m not saying we started it, because I think we’re living in this Zeitgeisty movement toward it—but between Amy Schumer, Broad City, Mindy Kaling, that has changed.”

Abbi Jacobson on Girls: “Lena was one of the first in a wave of creators writing and starring in their own material.”

Lena on her co-stars: “Something I’m really proud of is I look at this show, and we all started when we were between 22 and 25. It would have been very easy for all of us to go, ‘Yeah, we’re just going to fashion shows and taking free trips to St. Barth’s,’ but these women have made a really strong commitment to use their platform for something powerful. No one has used this new attention just to acquire handbags.”
