The Two 'Walking Dead' Series Will Not Intersect... Yet

The casts of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead step out for their panels at 2015 Comic-Con on Friday (July 10) at the Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.

It was revealed during the panel for the spin-off series that there are no plans right now to have the two series intersect.

“I think [Walking Dead showrunner] Scott Gimple would kill me if I ever pitched that idea,” showrunner Dave Erickson said (via EW). “It would be geographically quite complicated. There are no plans right now to conflate the two stories, as interesting as that might be.”

'Fear the Walking Dead' Begins Production - First Set Photos!

Cliff Curtis and Alycia Debnam Carey hit the set of their upcoming show Fear the Walking Dead on Sunday (May 10) in Vancouver, Canada.

The show just began production and other stars spotted on set included Kim Dickens, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Mercedes Mason, and Frank Dillane.

AMC has also released a new behind-the-scenes video to coincide with the start of production.

“I think the coolest thing about this show is that it tells its own story. You don’t need to have watched The Walking Dead to understand Fear the Walking Dead,” executive producer Robert Kirkman says. “As far as the timeline goes, we’re pushing the things back. We’re going to be dealing with the initial start of the outbreak.”
