The awards ceremony is mere days away, and five extremely talented actresses are up for the top acting honor.

This year Ana de Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) all received their first nominations in the category.

Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) has two prior Best Actress nominations, most recently in 2012. Meanwhile, this marks Cate Blanchett‘s fourth nomination in the category with TAR. She won the honor back in 2014 with Blue Jasmine.

It’s an undeniably stacked contest, and we want to know who you’re rooting for. We created a poll so that our readers could let us know who they think should take home the Oscar when the time comes.

Taylor Russell, Cate Blanchett, Paul Mescal & More Best Actor in Film Nominees Attend Independent Spirit Awards 2023

The Best Lead Performance film nominees have arrived at the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards.

The likes of Taylor Russell (Bones and All), Cate Blanchett (TAR), Paul Mescal (Aftersun) and Aubrey Plaza (Emily the Criminal) descended on the blue carpet on the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday evening (March 4) in Santa Monica, Calif.

They were joined at the awards show by the remaining nominees in the category. Regina Hall (Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul), Jeremy Pope (The Inspection), Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Mia Goth (Pearl), Dale Dickey (A Love Song) and Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) all delivered their own fierce look on the carpet. You can see pics of them all in the gallery!

Cate was also supported by TAR‘s director Todd Field. If you missed it, she recently revealed Todd‘s advice for her after they wrapped on their award-nominated movie.

Andrea Riseborough is speaking out for the first time over her controversial Oscar nomination.

The 41-year-old actress was nominated for Best Actress for her role in To Leslie, which sparked a big debate about the validity of her nomination.

While the Academy did do an investigation, they agreed to retain Andrea‘s nomination.

Michelle Yeoh is speaking out in response to the controversy surrounding the Best Actress category at the Oscars this year.

The beloved actress received her first-ever Oscar nomination for her work in the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once. Also nominated in the category are TAR‘s Cate Blanchett, Blonde‘s Ana de Armas, To Leslie‘s Andrea Riseborough, and The FabelmansMichelle Williams.

There was controversy surrounding Andrea‘s nomination because of the last-minute effort by Hollywood elites to get her included in the category. After an investigation, the Academy decided that no changes will be made to the nominations.

Andrea Riseborough to Keep Oscar Nomination, Academy Says Campaign Tactics Will Be Addressed

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released a statement in response to the controversy surrounding Andrea Riseborough‘s Oscar nomination for the film To Leslie.

The critically acclaimed actress received a surprise Best Actress nomination following a last-minute campaign from many members in Hollywood who voiced support for her performance.

The Academy had announced it was “conducting a review of campaign procedures” following the nominations announcement, but never named Andrea‘s nomination as the reason. It was rumored that a campaign ad violated procedures by referencing another Best Actress candidate.

After a Board of Governors meeting on Tuesday (January 31), the Academy decided that Andrea will keep her Best Actress nomination and the campaign tactics will be addressed in the future.

Andrea Riseborough's 'To Leslie' Co-Star Marc Maron Slams Academy for Investigating Her Nomination

Marc Maron is speaking out to defend Andrea Riseborough‘s Oscar nomination and to slam the Academy for investigating it.

The two actors starred in the movie To Leslie and Andrea received a Best Actress nomination for her work in the film, which only got a small theatrical release last year.

A grassroots campaign was launched to secure Andrea an Oscar nomination and when the nominations were announced, her Oscar dreams came true. The Academy later revealed that they would be “conducting a review of the campaign procedures around this year’s nominees” to make sure that campaigns were “conducted in a fair and ethical manner.”

On the latest episode of Marc‘s “WTF” podcast, he reacted to the investigation.
