Andrew Lincoln is So Excited For 'Walking Dead' Season 8

You may still be recovering from the season 7 finale, but Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln is already anticipating season 8.

The 43-year-old actor recently opened up about why he’s so pumped for the next season.

“I can’t wait. This is not hyperbole,” Andrew told EW. “This is not a cynical act to try and amp up enthusiasm for the hundredth episode in season 8, but I am genuinely more excited about this next episode and the following 15 than I’ve ever been in my life. I can’t wait to get back.”

He added, “It’s been a lot of placing the chess pieces and positioning and introducing key players in this landscape. And I think now we get to start really playing the game. The game is afoot, as they say.”

In case you missed the news, Fear the Walking Dead was just renewed for a fourth season!

Andrew Lincoln Teases 'Walking Dead' Season 7 Finale

Andrew Lincoln, star of The Walking Dead, is teasing the final episode of season seven!

“There’s a palpable sense of energy and excitement in that final episode,” Andrew told EW. “I think that the crew felt it, this sort of brilliancy. And it was weird because it was the end of a long season and yet everybody was sort of champing at the bit to keep going. I’ve never felt that before in the show. Everybody was like, ‘Yeah, darn it, let’s do season 8 now!’ It was a really unique situation and everybody felt it. So I think if we get it right, it will be an incredibly satisfying ending to season 7.”

“It is everything and the kitchen sink,” showrunner Scott M. Gimple added. “It is exciting and it’s very emotional and I believe it’s funny in a couple parts, and it builds and builds and builds and it explodes. And though it promises more — because there is a whole lot to get to — there is an ending. It really is just a huge episode inasmuch as it has all of the flavors of this season. It is taking your cup and going down each soda jet and taking a little from each one and then throwing in some hot sauce, a little bit of lime, and then maybe a tiny bit of Tequila, as well.”

The season finale will air on Sunday (April 2) on AMC. Stay tuned!

'The Walking Dead' Cast Teases Season Eight: 'A Gigantic Tale to Come'

The Walking Dead is getting ready for even bigger and better things in season eight!

The cast, including Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, Melissa McBride and Christian Serratos stepped out at PaleyFest on Friday (March 18) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

During the panel discussion, showrunner Scott M. Gimple opened up about the show’s next season.

“The first episode [of season eight] is less about that we’ve reached 100 episodes; it’s more about setting up the next 100 episodes,” he explained.

Scott added, “The end of this season is very much the end of a chapter; it’s a conclusion that promises this epic story ahead. The first episode of season eight…it’s about setting up this gigantic epic tale to come not only in season eight but beyond.”
