Earlier today, it was revealed that Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton welcomed a new baby girl to her family via adoption.

The 45-year-old Cinderella actress and her longtime love named the new addition Edith Vivian Patricia Upton, their publicist tells JustJared.com.

This is the first girl for the happy couple who already have three sons — Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6.

Earlier this week, Cate posed in her brand new “Ellen” underwear surrounded by shirtless hunks during her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The 45-year-old Cinderella actress’ rep has confirmed the news of the adoption.

“The Upton family [Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton] have adopted a baby girl. No further details will be provided,” the rep said in a statement to JustJared.com.

Cate and Andrew, who have been married since December 1997, are the parents to three sons – Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6.

Cate Blanchett goes for a bright purple look to announce the Sydney Theater Company’s 2015 season on Thursday (September 4) in Sydney, Australia.

The 45-year-old actress was joined at the event by her husband and artistic director Andrew Upton, actor Geoffrey Rush, and Aussie star Robyn Nevin.

“Cate and I have been talking to him for years,” Andrew told the Sydney Morning Herald about trying to get Geoffrey back to the theater to perform. “Obviously, Cate worked with him on Oleanna and on Elizabeth. They’re very old friends, actually. But Geoffrey was very much based in Melbourne while his children were at school, which I very much understand.”

Geoffrey will star as King Lear in King Lear and Cate will star in The Present at the theater.

Cate recently told the Telegraph that she and her husband share an email address.

“We work together and it’s a way of synchronizing our lives. I can see what he’s up to – it’s not that I don’t trust him,” Cate said. “I’m incredibly fortunate to have met the intelligent, generous, risk-taking, stimulating man to whom I am married. He’s really amazing.”
